District 6400 Rotary Clubs Come Together in Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

DG Bonnie Sirower from Rotary District 7490 on the east coast is working with Rotary Clubs in NJ and NY and has reached out to our District for donations to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Below you will find a list of the types of items they need and the dates/times that items can be dropped off in Grosse Ile. Walmart has donated a truck and driver and will be transporting items to the East Coast next week on Wednesday or Thursday. Please consider making a cash donation to our Adrian Rotary Foundation or bring items to the Grosse Ile site. All donations will go to our sister clubs to distribute to those in need.

The hours for the collection center will be Saturday 8 am - 1 pm and 5pm-8pm  Monday .  The hanger number is C-25.  If you have questions concerning the collection center, please contact Jill Ryan 734-717-8010.

The Collection Center is located on Groh Rd. Grosse Ile Airport.  Take  Grosse Ile Parkway to Merriman Rd.  Turn right onto Merriman Rd.  Merriman Road dead ends at Groh.  Turn right onto Groh Rd.  Go 50 yards or so.  Turn left into the Airport driveway.  Drive through the gate and go past Hanger 2 on your right hand side .  Turn left between the two rows of hangers.  Hanger C 25 is the second hanger from the far end of the row on your right hand side.

Items Wanted:

New Clothing (NO USED CLOTHING), Underwear, Socks, Coats, Sweaters, sweatpants and sweatshirts
· Heavy duty garbage bags
· New Blankets, Pillows, Bedding, Towels and Cots
· Cleaning supplies of all types - mops, brooms, pails, disinfectant, bleach, detergent
· Flash Light and Batteries, especially D batteries
· Work gloves
· Disposable diapers for babies of all sizes and Depends for senior citizens
· Non-perishable food items, especially Chunky soups, protein items; tuna fish or salmon, sardines, peanut butter, bread, stews, canned ravioli, and juices we need foods that don’t have to be heated. There is a tremendous need for food right now.
· Baby food of all types
· Pet food of all types
· Paper plates and cups
