Carol introduced a unique program from Bob & Linda Utter, owners of Flying Otter Vineyard and Winery.  The vineyard/winery is located at 3402 Chase Rd. and incidentally was Mark Murray's fathers home.  It was originally established for personal consumption in January of 2005, but after gaining great popularity among family and friends, they acquired their license to sell in Michigan about a year ago.  Their focus is to introduce people to a unique and wonderful wine experience by making premium wines from local grapes and fruit and selling it at very competitive prices ($12-$26/bottle).

While Bob mainly focuses on the product, Linda manages the business end of it which includes: Facebook, wine tasting events, trade associations, e-mail specials, web-site, accounting, News & media releases, videos, pod-casts and online ordering.  She said because there is no rule-book, one of the most difficult tasks is dealing with the government agency to get approval for the labels they put on the bottles.

Flying Otter has won ten medals, offers ten wines with three to five more in the works and also sells a great many accessories.  They offer a beautiful outdoor tasting facility when weather permits and hope to have live music on the weekends.  They also offer frequent specials.  Check out their web-site (flyingotter.com) and get on their mailing list to keep up to date.
