Perfect Participation & Sinner of the Year Awards - 2013
Secretary Allen Slater kicked things off by telling members that back in the day, the Perfect Participation Award was given to members who simply had perfect participation - never missed a meeting or if they did, they made it up at another club. Today, however, it’s much easier to qualify for since it is now given to those who not only attend meetings but are involved in projects who use them to make up for a missed meeting! Sweet, eh? Among those recognized, Allen announced that Sam Rye had achieved 19 years while Mark Murray achieved 18 - the highest in our club! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe the late Bob Hayden had achieved 50+ years of perfect attendance! That's a lot of rubber chickens and Salisbury steak, folks! Congrats, guys and to all who were recognized today!
Up next was Kevin Keller whose turn it was to reveal who was ratted on the most throughout the year to qualify for the coveted Sinner of the Year Award! The dreaded toilet seat was then brought forward which lists the names of all past recipients. Kevin began the festivities by asking audience members who had been fined less that $40 if they knew how many bucks they paid to greedy fine masters throughout the past Rotary year (includes "Happy Bucks" by the way).
Of those present, here's what each was fined during the 2012-13 year who did not end up in the top 3 which I will get to in just a moment: Herrera ($39); J. Clark ($38); Hokenson ($36); Marti ($35); Dawes ($33); P. Clark ($33); Chase ($32); Slater ($32); Mary Murray ($28); Mercer ($26); Olsaver ($23); Rye ($18); Robinson ($17); Smith ($17); Soto ($17); Douglass ($16); Kojima ($14); Chadha ($14); Lewis ($12); Lemon ($12).
So, that left just 3 other members whose names were not already mentioned simply because they were the top 3 of those fined the most throughout the past year: Joe Satterelli, Carol Souchock, and Greg DuMars. And the winner was: Carol having been fined $68 and beating out Joe Satterelli by only $1!! Greg took 3rd place with fines totaling $49. Congrats (I think!), Carol!! (Photo taken by Patty Clark)
